Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected contender, although he would be a shock choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is out of work meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
