Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
