Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
After the tragedy, public personalities shared different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were broadly criticized by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the detractors last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the comments as "shocking" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an adviser should have acted when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
