Former US treasury secretary Larry Summers is leaving the board at the ChatGPT creator, just several days after a batch of digital correspondence between him and notorious criminal the disgraced billionaire became publicly available.
Summers stated in a statement that he was "grateful for the opportunity to have contributed, enthusiastic about the potential of the organization, and look forward following their development".
Summers, who previously headed the Ivy League institution, announced on Monday that he would be stepping back from public commitments due to his connections with Epstein.

The freshly disclosed emails showed that the economist corresponded with Epstein until the eve of Epstein's 2019 arrest for suspected human trafficking of underage individuals.
In another announcement, the technology organization expressed it respected Summers' determination to step down.
"We appreciate his many contributions and the perspective he provided to the directors," the company remarked.
Political Context
This announcement comes after the two houses of the legislative branch voted on Tuesday to endorse a legislation that would mandate the Department of Justice to release its files on the case.
The measure will afterward move to the administration of the White House for endorsement. The President has indicated he plans to approve the legislation, after modifying his stance on the issue following objections from his base.

The professor occupied senior posts under party leaders; functioning as Treasury chief under Bill Clinton, and as head of the economic advisory body under President Obama.
He headed the institution from five years and is still a academic there. When announcing his withdrawal from public commitments earlier on this week, he stated he would maintain his teaching commitments.
